What's Love Got To Do With Fashion?
Well if you are embarking on producing your own fashion brand, we believe that you are going to need a lot of love to help you through. Why do we say this?
Well because building a brand can be an arduous task and can take a long time, so what's the best thing to get you through if not 'Love?'
There may be many sleepless nights, doubts, fears, and worries; but with your passion you will most likely be able to break through these barriers.
Although, love will keep you going you will also need to be business-like to really get things going - results will give you the motivation to keep the love going.
Pushing through barriers and overcoming challenges helps to strengthen us mentally, but it should also be noted that winning is good for us.
From an excerpt from a blog post on educationaladvancement.org 'What Happens When You Fail' it describes the following:
"When we experience a win, our brains release endorphins, dopamine and serotonin, which encourage us to engage in a task again. When we experience a failure, our brains release cortisol and do not leave us with feelings of acceptance and safety."
This is important to note because although we have to accept that failure is part of life, and although absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, consistent failure can be detrimental to our health.
So back to love, what about if you fall out of love?
With love towards a special someone, we may sometimes have the tendency to put on the 'rose tinted glasses' and see the world in a warm hazy way.
We can also have these feelings towards our new fashion business venture, which is great, but it is important that we do not get too wrapped up in the feeling of the brands aesthetics and the dream of what could be, and focus on how to create a successful brand that you will be happy with.
Just like in a relationship, it is important to know what to do when the love of your pursuit has faded. You need to decide if you can reinvigorate it or let it go. In some cases letting go will be the best decision, no matter how difficult it may be. It doesn't mean that you may not be able to revisit your brand in the future - just not now.
Love is important, but it's not the only thing that matters in fashion.
