Sometimes it's easier to ignore things than confront them, but is this not always the best way to go about things. Do you have a to do list longer than your arm that includes all the things you would like to do personally, as well as professionally?

It can sometimes seem overwhelming to tackle all that you have to do, but avoiding those things may not be the best idea.

List It

Have you literally written out everything that you would like to/need to do? If not, this is probably a good start. Once you have this list, you can then can get a clear visual picture of what things to be done.

Firstly, can you eliminate some of the things on the list entirely? It may be possible. Now let's rank them in order of priority, and start there.

We know that not everyone runs their lives according to a schedule and for the most creative of us, we tend to have a sort of organised chaos to the way we work. Nevertheless, we can all agree that once we have ticked that looming thing off our list we will feel a lot better.

What Needs To Be Done In Your Business?

Referring to our post 'resolve your resolutions', we outlined that little steps each week compound and can make a huge difference in time.

If there is something in your business you are putting off that you could quite easily get done, then do it.

If there are outstanding invoices that you need to pay, pay it. If you need to be paid chase it up. The thing here is not to avoid it.

There's Just Not Enough Time

We are all busier than ever lately and so we sometimes, file things under "I'll do it later." It's much better to get things done as soon as they come up. You could maybe set some rules to help you keep on top of things.

Maybe you can set a 24hour limit to get all your admin work done, this way you can make sure that everything you set out to do gets done within a good timeframe.

Maybe every month you can have a review of how you have done and see what you can improve on.

Whatever it is that you can do to help you be more productive and make progress you should do it. Avoiding the things you need to do is not the best way to live your life, so deal with everything head-on, you'l be much happier with it in the long run.
