What is a seamstress?
A seamstress also addressed/known as a dressmaker specialises in sewing a variety of garments. They can sew by hand, domestic sewing machine and or industrial sewing machine.
A good seamstress will be able to help you with finishings if you are unsure and can finish garments well. You may also be able to refer to a seamstress as a sample machinist/sample maker. They should all do the same work. However a machinist, who can sew on domestic and industrial machines also, but may have the bulk of their training undertaken in a factory. A factory machinist is not to be confused with a seamstress or sample machinist. A factory machinist will be apt at sewing repetitive seams, or carrying out competitive jobs. A sample machinist could be described as a problem solver, because they would have worked on many different garments and have a wider experience, & skill.
How to find a seamstress
